LeAnn Rimes enters treatment and files a lawsuit

Singer claims she was cyber-bullied.

It's been a busy week for LeAnn Rimes. The singer, who just turned 30 earlier this month, entered treatment for what's described as "anxiety and stress." It's great that she's getting help, but what brought this on? What could possibly be so stress-inducing that it prompted Rimes to seek help from professionals?

The answer, it seems, is cyber bullying, sort of. Rimes is suing two women that she claims taped her private phone call and then put the entire conversation on Twitter, for the world to see. Wait, what?!LeAnn Rimes seems like the type of celebrity who doesn't mind constantly being in the limelight. She probably has lots of friends, but just as many enemies. And Rimes claims that two of those enemies are Kimberly and Lexi Smiley. The two women went off on LeAnn, trashing her for her affair with Eddie Cibrian. Of course, LeAnn and Cibrian are now married, but at the time they got involved, Eddie was still married to Brandi Glanville. It was a rocky road, to be sure.

Here's the gist of what's going on with this lawsuit: LeAnn Rimes claims that California mom of four, Kimberly Smiley and her 19-year-old daughter, Lexi, secretly recorded a part of a phone call to them. LeAnn apparently took it upon herself to call Kimberly and try to smooth things over, after Kimberly bashed her on Twitter.

Wow. Seriously. Wow. A major celebrity is SO concerned about what's being said about her on Twitter than she calls a California high school teacher to try and get her to LIKE her?! Then, when the teacher (allegedly) tapes the convo and puts it on Twitter, the celebrity files an invasion of privacy lawsuit?!

LeAnn Rimes' attorney potentially has a case with the whole phone call taping bit. You can't do that without consent from both parties under state law. So there's that. But this is the part that irks me: Rimes wants to be "compensated for the harm that she has endured as a result of the defendants' malicious actions." Oh, come on! Surely LeAnn isn't so fragile that she can't take a little heat, right? This is not a typical "cyber-bullying" case at all. This is flat-out cat fighting.

LeAnn Rimes really should just lay low and try to avoid the publicity as much as she can. The Eddie Cibrian drama had already died down, for the most part -- and now, because of this phone call she made and now the lawsuit, it's back in the headlines. Rimes is becoming her own worst enemy at this point. Hopefully, with treatment for her "anxiety and stress," she'll learn some healthier coping mechanisms.
