Seth MacFarlane is hosting the Oscars!

Hey Seth MacFarlane fans, it's time to rejoice! Our hero is going to host the 85th Annual Academy Awards ceremony next year! Seriously could I add any more exclamation points to this post? I'm excited. It's allowed.

I have to say, I always find the Oscars to be seriously boring. I tuned in the year that Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted, with hopes that maybe, just maybe, they'd be funny. Instead I got a total disaster. Call me crazy, but I don't think that will be the case with Seth MacFarlane hosting.I actually thought Seth MacFarlane was hilarious during his recent hosting job on Saturday Night Live. I also caught his presentation during the 2012 Emmy Awards last week, and he managed to make a technical screw-up extremely funny (when it doubt, always pull out the Family Guy Stewie voice). I was shocked to hear that Seth was picked as the next Oscars host, but pleasantly shocked.

Does this mean he'll co-host segments of the Academy Awards with Ted? With Stewie? With Mila Kunis?! Yes, please, to all of the above. I absolutely think MacFarlane can and will deliver big as an Oscars host. No, he's never starred in movies, but he did direct what might wind up being the biggest comedy movie of 2012 (the hilarious Ted). The man knows pop culture, and if the Academy wants to draw a younger demographic to the show, this is exactly how to do it. And he's also a really decent singer, so I expect some solid musical numbers!
